John Cobb

John Cobb may be America’s pre-eminent liberal theologian; yet he says “I’m not a great enthusiast for religion.” In this interview he explains that the prophetic tradition, with its quest for truth and justice, actually OPPOSES “religion” (otherworldly-focused rites and ceremonies propping up the established social order).

We discuss John’s book Spiritual Bankruptcy, which casts a whole new light on the religion-vs.-secularism debate; the recent books by David Ray Griffin and Naomi Klein warning of catastrophic climate change; and Reason and Re-Enchantement (edited by John Cobb, Richard Falk and Catherine Keller) on David Ray Griffin‘s work.

We also touch on perennial Truth Jihad Radio topics including false flags in general, and 9/11 and Charlie Hebdo in particular, with a special focus on the new book We Are NOT Charlie Hebdo! Free Thinkers Question the French 9/11 which I edited and to which John contributed an essay.
