Islamic movement leader and journalist Zafar Bangash says the crimes of the US and Israel, and the obscene level of hyprocrisy around them, won’t magically end when Trump leaves office:
“The Western ruling elite and their enabling media use selective information. They deliberately distort information. They deliberately highlight certain things and even if they are totally false, they continue to repeat them again and again so that they are drummed into people’s minds, and people are made to believe that that has to be the truth.
“The United States…has attacked many countries, going back to the Korean War, the Vietnam war, all of them waged on false pretexts. We know about the alleged Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964 that the US used as a pretext to come out into the open in attacking Vietnam…in all of these circumstances there is a lot of misinformation, a lot of disinformation. When there is a country, a government, that they want to target, they will make all kinds of scandalous allegations against them. Two examples: Iraq’s alleged weapons of mass destruction…American officials at the highest levels, including Secretary of State Colin Powell, went and lied in front of the world.
And the second example is the case of Iran. The US and its allies, in particular the Zionist state of Israel, have been making these allegations that Iran is making nuclear weapons. Whereas Iran has, at the highest level, repeatedly stressed that nuclear weapons and WMD are against Islam’s fundamental principles and do not figure into Iran’s defense strategy. There is absolutely no evidence that Iran is producing nuclear weapons. And yet if you look at the record, starting in 1996, various Israeli rulers have been making these scandalous allegations that Iran is going to have a nuclear weapon in six months or one year. And they have been repeating this since 1996! For 25 years, a quarter of a century, they have been telling this lie. And if Iran was only a year away from a nuclear weapon since 1996, surely it would have acquired one. But it hasn’t.
“And as I mentioned, Iran’s leaders have repeatedly stressed that they do not want nuclear weapons. In fact, Iran’s leader, Imam Ali Khamenei, has issued a fatwa, a religious edict, in which he says that nuclear weapons are banned. It is a religious edict. Nobody in Iran can violate it, because it is a very fundamental article of Muslims’ belief that when a top religious and political authority issues such an edict, it has to be followed.
“And if we look at Western governments that have nuclear weapons, led by the US and its allies Britain and France and the Zionist state of Israel—which refuses to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) while Iran has signed it…”
