Guest: Rashid al-Hajj abu Mutahhar, author of the Way of the Wayfarer Without a Way a three volume (so far) series of interconnected stories (or is it one big story?) that might be described as “Rumi meets 9/11 truth.” The Way of the Wayfarer Without a Way recounts a spiritual journey that passes through Buddhism, among other things, to Islam. It could serve as an introduction to Islamic spirituality for non-Muslims, and a refresher course for Muslims. Characters include Siddharta Gautama, Milarepa, Parzival, Rabia, al-Khadir, and many more. As the author explains:

“This work is similar in form to the Masnavi i M’anavi of Jalaluddin Rumi. Both consist of original spiritual tales and stories of the Prophets (alyhim as salaam) from the Torah, the Gospels, the Qur’an, the Sunnah and the Seerah. Also employed are stories from buddhist and taoist wisdom traditions, and other sources, which portray the quest of the soul to recognize God – and then to surrender.”
