Profiles in courage: Free Gaza movement, Splitting-the-Sky

Truth Jihad Radio Sat. 6/5/10, 5-7 pm Central, American Freedom Radio (to be archived here.) Call-in number: 512-879-3805.

First hour: Free Gaza organizers discuss the recent Israeli mass murder of humanitarian aid workers in international waters, and the prospects for an end to the genocidal blockade of Gaza.
First-half-hour guest Adam Shapiro is on the Board of Directors of the Free Gaza Movement. He is a documentary filmmaker, human rights activist and Palestinian rights activist. He lived in the occupied Palestinian territory from 1999-2002 and helped found the International Solidarity Movement (ISM). His films include the award-winning documentary film, About Baghdad (Spring 2004), darfur diaries: message from home (Fall 2005), and becoming nadya (short film, 2007). His latest film is a documentary series on Palestinian refugees all over the world called Chronicles of a Refugee, which was broadcast on Al-Jazeera Documentary Channel in May 2009. Adam previously served as Country Director in Afghanistan for the internationally renowned human rights organization Global Rights. He is co-author of the book, Darfur Diaries: Stories of Survival (Nation Books).
Second-half-hour guest Darlene Wallach, is a Free Gaza Movement organizer who, like Adam, has taken part in flotilla attempts to break the Gaza blockade. I interviewed Darlene in 2008 when the Free Gaza movement was just a plan and a dream. Now it’s putting the final nail in the coffin of the Gaza blockade, and maybe Zionism itself. History in the making!

Second hour: Civil Resistance icon Splitting-the-Sky, who faces a sentencing hearing on Monday for the “crime” of peacefully attempting to conduct a citizen’s arrest of credibly-accused war criminal George W. Bush. Former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark will be traveling to Calgary for the event, and may address the court. Globalization Studies professor and STS supporter Anthony Hall will also join us.

Free Gaza activist and U.S. citizen Fulkan Dogan "was shot five times from less than 45 cm (18 inches) away, in the face, the back of the head, twice in the leg and once in the back" according to the autopsy report. http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6536MF20100604

guess what port Ashdod(where the Rachel Corrie was taken) is also used for:

' It was left to a representative of the Israeli peace movement Gush Shalom to point out to the BBC a couple of days ago that Ashdod port is used by the Israelis to bringing in tanks and aircraft.'

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/jun/04/israeli-pr-machine-gaza-flotilla-media-battle

In an operation reminiscent of the first week or so of the Israeli offensive against Gaza in winter 2008-2009, the Israeli PR machine succeeded in getting the major news outlets to focus on its version of events and to use the Israeli authorities' discourse for a crucial 48 hours. (One example of how this was being done is a leaked, sophisticated briefing paper with key talking points, compiled using official government sources and pro-government Israeli media, issued through the World Zionist Organisation on 1 June.)

Read: GORDON DUFF: WHAT ISRAEL’S EXECUTION OF AN AMERICAN TEEN MEANS

Report: Autopsy shows Gaza activists were shot 30 times.
Nine Turkish activists killed in an Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound ship, including one with U.S. citizenship, were shot a total of 30 times and five died of gunshot wounds to the head, Britain’s Guardian newspaper says.

ISRAELI “COMMANDOS” EXECUTED PEACE ACTIVISTS, MOSTLY WITH SHOTS TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD AT POINT BLANK RANGE, WHILE PRISONERS WERE KNEELING, ACCORDING TO A REPORT FROM AN ISRAELI PAPER, BASED ON AUTOPOSY RESULTS.

These facts won’ t be in any American or British newspaper or on the television news, not the corporate networks anyway. Israel dictates what is reported, even by the BBC, an organization they control entirely.

    Join the Turkish Navy,
    Sail the seven seas,
    Break the Gaza blockade
And bring Zionism to its knees!
