GADHAFFI, FALL GUY FOR CIA DRUG RUNNING
By Susan Lindauer, Former U.S. Asset covering Iraq and Libya (and 9/11 whistleblower)
For years I was told the terrorist who placed the bomb on board Pan Am 103, known as the Lockerbie bombing, lives about 8 miles from my house, in Fairfax County, Virginia.
His life-time of privilege and protection, gratis of high flyers in U.S. Intelligence, has been a reward for silence on the CIA’s involvement in drug trafficking in Lebanon during the 1980s.
As sources go, I was more than a casual observer. From May 1995 until March 2003, I performed as a back channel to Tripoli and Baghdad, supervised by my CIA handler, Dr. Richard Fuisz, who claimed from day one to know the origins of the Lockerbie conspiracy and the identity of the terrorists. http://issuepedia.org/1998-12-04_Susan_Lindauer_Deposition He swore that no Libyan participated in the attack.
Armed with that assurance, our team started talks with Libya’s diplomats for the Lockerbie Trial, and I attended over 150 meetings at the Libyan Embassy in New York. After the hand over of Libya’s two accused men, our team engaged in a concerted fight to gain permission for Dr. Fuisz to give a deposition about his primary knowledge of the conspiracy, during the Lockerbie Trial. In a surprise twist, the U.S. Federal Judge in Alexandria, Virginia imposed a double seal on a crucial portion of Dr. Fuisz’s deposition. The double seal can only be opened by a Scottish Judge. In my opinion, that should be a priority, as testimony hidden by the double seal maps out the whole Lockerbie conspiracy. Most significantly, it identifies 11 terrorists involved in the attack. Dr. Fuisz’s testimony could put the whole matter to rest forever.
There’s good reason for my confidence. Much to my surprise, during the Lockerbie talks, Dr. Fuisz’s allegations of CIA opium running in Lebanon received unusual corroboration. One day, as I left the office of Senator Carol Moseley-Braun on my lunch break, an older spook caught up with me in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. From out of nowhere, he stepped in my path and invited me to lunch. With extraordinary candor, he debriefed me as to what motivated the CIA’s actions. I remember it as one battle-hardened old spook sharing the perils of fieldwork with a gung ho young Asset, anxious to get started on great adventures.
It was a morality tale for sure. According to him, the CIA infiltrated opium and heroin trafficking in Lebanon as part of a crisis operation to rescue AP reporter Terry Anderson and 11 other American and British hostages in Beirut, including CNN bureau chief Jeremy Levin and Anglican envoy Terry Waite. The hostage crisis was a legitimate CIA concern. The CIA Station Chief of Beirut, William Buckley, was also kidnapped by Islamic Jihad and brutally tortured to death, his body dumped in the street in front of CIA headquarters. The rescue was protracted and complicated by Lebanon’s Civil War—ultimately, Terry Anderson’s captivity lasted seven years. Many of the hostages suffered beatings, solitary confinement chained to the floor, and mock executions.
The older spook who refused to identify himself swore that the CIA considered it urgently necessary to try every possibility for recovering the hostages. The concept of infiltration into criminal networks cuts to the murky nature of intelligence itself. Drug enforcement frequently rely on the same strategies. Where the CIA went far wrong was in pocketing some of those heroin profits for itself along the way. The dirty little secret is that the CIA continued to take a percentage cut of opium and heroin production out of Lebanon well into the 1990s.
As for the hostage rescue itself, considering the operation took years to accomplish, it’s always been whispered that a corrupted CIA officer enjoying those opium profits might have swallowed reports on the hostages’ locations, or otherwise diverted his team in order to protect his narcotics income.
That appears to have become a serious fear at the time, among other U.S. officers jointly involved in the rescue.
In December 1988, infuriated Defense Intelligence agents issued a formal protest, exposing CIA complicity in Middle East heroin trafficking. When teams from both agencies got summoned back to Washington to attend an internal hearing, they boarded Pan Am 103. A wing of militant Hezbollah led by Ahmed Jibril, his nephew Abu Elias, Abu Talb and Abu Nidal took out both teams in order to protect their lucrative cartel.
Classified Defense Intelligence records show that Jibril and Talb had been toying with a conspiracy to bomb a U.S. airplane during the 1988 Christmas holidays anyway. They planned to bomb a U.S. airliner in revenge for the U.S.S. Vincennes, which shot down an Iranian commercial airliner loaded with Hajiis returning from Mecca in July, 1988. However the Defense Intelligence threat to expose their heroin network put the bombing plan into action. Islamic Jihad’s ability to discover actionable intelligence on the flight schedules would definitely confirm that somebody at CIA was operating as a double agent, keeping Islamic Jihad a step ahead of the rescue efforts.
That’s the dirty truth about Lockerbie. It ain’t nothing like you’ve been told.
Wait a darn moment—I anticipate your confusion. Libya got blamed for the Lockerbie attack. Daddy George Bush told us so! The United Nations imposed sanctions on Libya, demanding that Colonel Moammar Gadhaffi hand over two Libyans for trial. One of the two, Lameen Fhima got acquitted immediately. The other Abdelbasset Megrahi got convicted (on the most flimsy circumstantial evidence that overlooked endless contradictions). Libya paid $2.7 billion in damages—amounting to $10 million per family death— to make the U.N. sanctions go away, and expressed a sort of non-apology for the deaths—while never acknowledging its involvement in the conspiracy.
So Libya was innocent the whole time? In a word, yes.
Don’t get me wrong: I have no soft spot for Libya. As an Asset, I saw that no matter the flowing promises of friendship, at heart Libyans hearken to their glory days as Bedouin raiders. It’s pathological, not personal. They are deeply tribal and Islamic, which often makes them paranoid and suspicious of outsiders. They have an ancient history of raiding each other’s camps, back and forth, stealing livestock, women and children. One of my best diplomatic sources had a tattoo on his wrist, because his grandmother feared he would be kidnapped as a small child (in the 1950s). Libya simply does not have a history of believing that it needs to keep promises to individuals outside their clans. That’s not part of their heritage.
That vendetta culture bodes dangerously for the current rebellion. Even after Gadhaffi’s gone, in all likelihood these tribal families will continue to exact vengeance on one another. It remains to be seen whether the new government will hide those clashes to protect its image of cohesion and legitimacy to the outside world. In truth, Libyan culture poses a threat to itself most of all.
I don’t say that about just any Arab country. I enjoy Arab culture very much. I just know better than to do favors for Gadhaffi. His actions often mask some other agenda.
But the bottom line is that Libya had nothing to do with the bombing of Pan Am 103, which exploded over the town of Lockerbie, Scotland.
We should care about Lockerbie because of the serious problem that it exposed. Opium trafficking out of the Bekaa Valley provides a major source for global heroin production. In turn, the global pipeline of narco-dollars keep militant operations alive world-wide from the Middle East to Indonesia, Colombia, Burma and the Far East.
That’s something to fear. We don’t have to deploy soldiers to shut it down. With a little creativity, we could attack the bank accounts of these global heroin traffickers and cut off funds for the violence without damaging the local society through warfare. We could strike down two scourges—heroin and terrorism. And the U.S. would not require military action all over the planet to accomplish its goals. Thankfully, there are other ways.
The first step is recognition.
Not everyone who has worked for the man is a benighted, obsequious cog in the death machine. Today I will be speaking to a former academic insider (first hour) and a current mainstream media journalist (second hour), both of whom have behaved honorably under difficult circumstances.
First hour guest: Dr. Howard Ross, former College of Letters and Sciences Dean at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and staunch opponent of racism and other forms of discrimination in the academy. Dr. Ross has already testified that he was part of the hiring process for a tenure-track Arabic-Humanities job in spring 2006 at the University. He has explained that I was clearly the best candidate for the job, and that I became the only eligible candidate when the other two finalists accepted positions elsewhere; yet I was turned down, the Arabic program was shut down, and federal money for the tenure-track position was returned, for only one reason: Some of the people on the hiring committee were uncomfortable with my views on 9/11 and the so-called war on terror. As Dr. Ross emailed me at the time: “YOU WERE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST.” (Note: This happened in spring 2006, before I became a public figure.)
In his previous appearances on my radio show, Dr. Ross had to speak carefully due to his own legal issues with the University. Now that those issues have been resolved, expect him to boldly tell it like it is!
This show launches my spring 2011 academic freedom campaign at the University of Wisconsin. I will be challenging the University to either (A) find at least one qualified scholar to defend the 9/11 Commission and NIST reports in a public debate, or (B) apologize and remove me from their blacklist. I will also be challenging Republican State Rep. Steve Nass, the man responsible for my loss of livelihood, to either defend the 9/11 Commission and NIST reports in a public debate, or to publicly apologize and personally compensate me for the loss of income I have suffered due to his McCarthyist terror campaign against the University.
Second hour: Robert Koehler, a self-described “peace journalist” whose Common Wonders column is syndicated by the Chicago Tribune. Bob Koehler’s work stands far above the standard editorial-page drivel dished out by mainstream American newspapers. His recent column You Can’t Kill An Idea is a gem. Consider this passage:
Our whole approach to security is built around the assumption that you can kill an idea. Guns, brutality, coercion: This is the common wisdom. It’s sustained by a moral numbness that permeates mainstream culture and is carried along by the corporate media, which perpetuate a facile misunderstanding of the world with the throwaway certitudes embedded in their reportage. Consider, for instance, this stunning little say-nothing sentence that I plucked from an AFP dispatch about NATO’s possible killing of 65 civilians (including 40 children) during a recent strike in Kunar province, Afghanistan: “The accidental deaths of civilians in international military operations is a highly sensitive subject in Afghanistan — particularly in Kunar — which experts and officials say can fuel support for the Taliban-led insurgency.” A reader can glide so smoothly past such military-industrial truisms, hardly noticing that the subject under discussion is flesh and blood, the lives of people who have the bad luck to be living in a war zone. These people, alas, keep getting in our way as we set about the grim task of killing “insurgents,” that is to say, believers in a particular idea.
If more mainstream journalists told truths like these, maybe we wouldn’t be killing millions of people in a doomed attempt to kill the ideas of freedom and justice and dignity and honor and self-determination that motivate “insurgents.”

First hour: Leading US Empire critic William Blum, “the thinking man’s Chomsky.” William Blum is the author of Killing Hope: US Military and CIA Interventions Since World War II, which documents an “American holocaust” of millions of people killed and tens of millions who have had their lives ruined by US military and CIA aggression against dozens of nations who never attacked or threatened us. We will discuss topics covered in Blum’s latest Anti-Empire Report: the myth of the “benevolent Marshall Plan”; the demonization of Qaddafi (who was innocent of the Lockerbie bombing); James “f*** the Jews” Baker; and much, much more!
Second hour: Libertarian presidential candidate Jim Duensing, founder of the Libertarian 9/11 truth group Libertarians for Justice. In 2009 Jim was tazed and then shot in the back by a rogue cop. He ran for Senate against the Senator from La Casa Nostra, Harry Reid in 2010.

Truth Jihad Radio Mon. 2/28/11, 1-3 pm Central, American Freedom Radio (archived here.) Call-in number: (402) 237-2525 or post your questions to my Facebook page.
First hour: Canadian journalist Eric Walberg reporting from Cairo, epicenter of the ongoing Egyptian revolution! Eric Walberg’s recent article Egypt/Turkey-Israel: ‘A clean break’ foresees a new era in the Middle East: “It is not Israel backed by the distant US that inherits the Ottoman mantle of hegemony in the Middle East, but some combination of Turkey and Egypt…” Eric Walberg writes for the leading Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram Weekly and is the author of the forthcoming Postmodern Imperialism: Geopolitics and the Great Games (Clarity Press, 2011).
Second hour: Wisconsin political maverick Ed Thompson! Ed gave us the greatest third-party performance in modern Wisconsin political history when he broke into double-figures running for governor in 2002 as a Libertarian. He served as mayor of Tomah from 2008-2010, and lost his race for State Senate last November by one of the smallest margins in state history, after announcing his diagnosis with terminal cancer six weeks into the race. Ed Thompson is one of a very few politicians who is liked by almost everyone. He is an uncommonly kind, decent, courageous and honorable person who recovered from alcoholism by way of a powerful spiritual experience, and went on to become an accomplished businessman and statesman. Expect the conversation to involve spirituality at least as much as politics.

February 28th is an American day of infamy – the anniversary of the events that led to the Ruby Ridge and Waco mass slaughters of Americans by the government that had sworn to protect them. Today on Truth Jihad Radio, we welcome two of the most important people working to expose federal government corruption in the USA – James Petras and Barbara Honegger.
First hour: James Petras, the leading scholarly critic of Zionist power in America, is the author of War Crimes in Gaza and the Zionist Fifth Column in America. Alongside William Blum and Noam Chomsky, Petras is also a first-rank analyst and critic of US empire. His most recent articles examine Greece’s Zionist/bankster puppet Prime Minister, Zionism’s attack on Egyptian democracy, and an epitaph for imperial propagandist Daniel Bell. As a leading scholar of labor and resistance movements, Dr. Petras will presumably have something to say about the Wisconsin Revolution.
James Petras is the author of 64 books published in 29 languages, and over 560 articles in professional journals, including the American Sociological Review, British Journal of Sociology, Social Research, Journal of Contemporary Asia, and Journal of Peasant Studies. He has published over 2000 articles in nonprofessional journals such as the New York Times, the Guardian, the Nation, Christian Science Monitor, Foreign Policy, New Left Review, Partisan Review, Temps Moderne, Le Monde Diplomatique, and his commentary is widely carried on the internet. His publishers have included Random House, John Wiley, Westview, Routledge, Macmillan, Verso, Zed Books and Pluto Books.
Second hour: Barbara Honegger, Senior Military Affairs Journalist at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey, CA and researcher of the 9/11 and anthrax false-flag attacks. Barbara will:
* follow up on Friday’s interview with anthrax expert Barry Kissin;
* explain why the small minority of 9/11 truthers who want to shut down discussion of the Pentagon attack are misguided;
* and explain why she doubts many claims of my recent guest Dmitri Khalezov.
Barbara Honegger exposed the Bush-CIA October Surprise operation that brought down Jimmy Carter, provided Mike Ruppert with much of the “9/11 war games” evidence in Crossing the Rubicon, and has come up with some of the best 9/11 activism ideas, including the Boston Tea Party for 9/11 Truth and the recent Third Beam for WTC-7 event in New York City.

First hour: Kevin has to pray/at a masjid far away/so a very special re-run/will brighten up your day!
Second hour: Kevin returns from the masjid to interview Barry Kissin, author of The Truth About the Anthrax Attack and Its Cover-Up. A leading expert on the 2001 anthrax attack, which even US authorities admit was a false-flag event designed to incite Islamophobia, Barry Kissin will analyze the recent National Academy of Science report casting doubt on the FBI’s evidence against suicided patsy Bruce Ivins. (Note: Barbara Honegger, another anthrax case expert, will join Truth Jihad Radio on Monday.)
NAS REPORT ON AMERITHRAX
by Barry Kissin
We didn’t need the National Academy of Sciences to tell us that the Government’s case against Bruce Ivins is a sham.
Almost a year ago (on March 6, 2010), I began a column: “The Bruce Ivins case is a trap. If the powers that be manage to keep us occupied with analyzing and reanalyzing the numerous and glaring weaknesses in the contrived case against Ivins, they succeed in diverting attention away from [the true source of the anthrax attacks].”
The best evidence points at one source – a sector of our own military-industrial-intelligence complex – the entity President Eisenhower warned about 40 years ago. Ignoring his warning has enabled this entity to grow and fester.
On covering up the true source of the anthrax attacks, NAS almost entirely cooperated. This is most significantly illustrated in what NAS had to say about silicon. Silicon has always been a key ingredient in the U.S. method of weaponizing anthrax. Though no one says it, this central issue of silicon in Amerithrax is about whether the attack anthrax must have come out of our own up-until-then secret anthrax weaponization projects.
The NAS: “Silicon was present in the letter powders but there was no evidence of intentional addition of silicon-based dispersants.” The problem is that the NAS relied on only one source of information about this, namely the FBI.
Here’s a better source: “‘If there is that much silicon, it had to have been [intentionally] added,” [said] Jeffrey Adamovicz, [former scientist] at Fort Detrick … He added that the silicon in the attack anthrax could have been added via a large fermentor—which Battelle and other labs use.” (Wall St. Journal, 1/24/10).
The NAS: “[N]o silicon was detected on the outside surface of spores where a [weaponizing] dispersant would reside. Instead, significant amounts of silicon were detected within the spore coat of some samples.”
It is true that there was “no silicon detected on the outside surface,” but it is false that this is “where a dispersant would reside” – that is a surpassed technology. The most modern anthrax-weaponizing technology has been referred to throughout the duration of the Amerithrax investigation by sources like Richard Spertzel, former Deputy Commander of USAMRIID, Kay Mereish, the Chief of Biological Planning and Operations at the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission, and Science magazine.
This most modern anthrax-weaponizing technology precisely situates “significant amounts of silicon” on the “spore coat,” just what the NAS found and obligingly disregarded. In other words, the anthrax was indeed intentionally weaponized with the most modern (advanced) anthrax-weaponizing technology.
What else? No one can deny that thousands upon thousands of spores passed through the pores of the paper making up two of the anthrax letters’ envelops, enough to kill by inhalational anthrax two postal workers, and that when the envelope addressed to Senator Daschle was opened in the Hart Senate Office Building, the spores escaped and disbursed like a gas.
So who had this technology? Before the anthrax attacks, secret anthrax weaponization projects were being conducted by the CIA at Battelle’s labs in West Jefferson, Ohio and the DIA in labs managed and operated by Battelle at the Army’s Dugway Proving Ground (in Utah). Both facilities had received anthrax spores from Bruce Ivin’s flask RMR-1029.
“[T]o create anthrax in a dry aerosol form of the sort that can be dispersed through the air is a long and difficult process involving a lot of highly specialized machinery.” (NY Times, 2/24/10).
This was not the work of any lone nut. The anthrax attacks were the product of an advanced domestic weaponization program, and the government cover-up persists.

First hour: Raymond Schwab, a student of Evangelical Judaism and a practitioner of Evangelical Christianity, says those nasty Muslims make life difficult for Christians – especially missionaries – in Muslim countries…and tests Kevin’s patience by saying terrible things about the Prophet Muhammad (SAAS) and the Qur’an. Kevin blasts Christian/European imperialism and colonialism, and prays for Raymond’s forgiveness, especially since Raymond has walked the walk for 9/11 truth.
Second hour: Sander Hicks, a Christian in the Catholic Worker tradition who is currently exploring Buddhist meditation, offers an update on current events, and discusses his “Slingshot to the Juggernaut” Truth Party national tour, which passes through Madison, WI this Sunday 2/27, 1 pm, Wil-Mar Center, 953 Jennifer St.
