There are no seasonal changes during the ice-age because the Earth's orbit is in line with its equator when the Sun is at its point 6 or 12 on its orbit.
At those points the Earth's axis is also in line or parallel with the Sun's orbit. Days and nights are equal all year around. During the high point of the ice-age, the axial pole and the magnetic poles are aligned. Sunlight is evenly distributed in both hemispheres. The ice-belts of the Earth reach down to within 10 degrees of the Equator.
Murphy's point – that the existence of global warming cannot be determined until we stop messing with the weather, was spot on. With the ability to manipulate regional/local climates/temps, the true averages needed to make any determination would be lost.
